Steel-cylinder post-tensioned concrete pipes

Steel-cylinder, prestressed concrete pipe is one of our most competitive products, with over 1,310 km installed. It is a pipe with a 6 meter effective length, used for pressure pipelines operating between 1 and 25 atm, with diameters ranging from 500 to 2000 mm.

The pipe consists of a high-strength concrete core lined with a steel cylinder that ensures watertightness, and active reinforcement formed by prestressing wire helically wound around the core, creating a binding effect. This assembly known as the primary unit (the load-bearing element) is finally coated with an outer layer of concrete designed to protect the active reinforcement.

The pipe's elastic joint is formed using metal end rings welded to the steel cylinder. The spigot (male end) features a groove designed to house one or two elastomeric rings (O-rings) with a diameter of 20 or 23 mm during assembly, while the bell (female end) is flared and includes a straight section that accommodates the O-ring. This joint is easy to assemble and, thanks to strict manufacturing tolerances, offers a highly reliable, watertight seal.
