Prefabricados Delta wins the contract to supply concrete pipes with sheet metal jacketing for three irrigation projects in Spain

Prefabricados Delta has won the contract to supply post-tensioned concrete pipes with sheet metal jacketing and double elastic joint for the following projects: the modernisation of the irrigation of the Canal Bajo del Bierzo in León; the modernisation of the Piñana Canal in the municipalities of Decorbins, Benavent de Segriá, Torreserona, Vilanova de Segriá, Lleida and La Protella; and the modernisation of the irrigation of the Colomers Dam Irrigation Community, in Gerona.

The three projects were awarded to the Empresa de Transformación Agraria (TRAGSA) and Prefabricados Delta has the objective of manufacturing the concrete pipes at the Puente Genil facilities in Cordoba and Humanes de Madrid.

The cost of the supply of pipes for the three projects exceeds 8.2 million euros. The pipe is made of post-tensioned concrete with a double elastic joint sheet sleeve and diameters of DN1600 to DN800, pressures of 12.5 to 5 atm and a length of 22,500 metres.

The works are financed by the NextGenerationEU Funds Plan, this Plan is included in Component 3 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, called ‘Environmental and Digital Transformation of the agri-food and fisheries sector’, which includes the investment C3.I1. ‘Plan for the improvement of efficiency and sustainability in irrigation’, with a budget of 563. 563,000,000 from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism for investments in the modernisation of sustainable irrigation systems, with the aim of promoting water saving and improving energy efficiency and sustainability in Spanish irrigation systems, which will be implemented by SEIASA (Sociedad Estatal de Infraestructura Agraria).
