Prestressed concrete cylinder pipe is composed of a concrete core which contains a steel cylinder to provide watertightness, a high strength steel wire helically wrapped around the core and an outer covering layer, the function of which is to protect the wire.

There are two types of pipe depending on the location of the cylinder: embedded cylinder type, where it is located inside the core, and lined cylinder type, where the cylinder is located on the exterior surface of the core, directly below the hooped wire.

As far as joints are concerned, two different types are manufactured which are fully guaranteed and backed by ample experience: welded and elastic, where we should stress the perfection obtained with the latter due to strict manufacturing tolerances.
